The absolute best defense against subliminal hypnosis (audible sound at a low decibel level or masked by tinnitis) being used is to fully occupy your mind by reading a book or magazine. It should be something (anything) that fully absorbs your attention and awareness. If you don't understand what that means it's whatever you're interested in on a conscious and unconscious level.
You might find a TV show interesting but not enough that your entire mind is absorbed. That may leave your unconscious attention to wander. It can only take a few seconds for it to locate and latch onto something subliminal given the right set of cues. Here's a few other things to avoid:
- Playing video games - some minds are fully absorbed in them, others not
- Mindless surfing the internet - doesn't matter if on a phone or computer, but be careful of the display
- When you need to use the phone always turn the screen away at an angle. Don't hold it directly in front of you and angled directly at your face (explanation later).
- Watching TV (already mentioned)
