NOTE: The examples below are NOT from actual schizophrenia.
- They WERE intended to trick someone into believing they had schizophrenia.
- They WERE intended to be perceived or heard as voice(s) in a person's head.
If anything similar is being perceived or heard keep a log journal of:
- Dates and times
- As much detail as possible about the structure, phrasing, and verbiage used
- DO NOT record or focus on the content
- If it's truly from your unconscious then it's already safely stored
- If it's being manipulated then it's NOT relevant
- See the HOW TOs for more information
Some were in the form of taunts:
- 'It's all in your head. Hahaha.'
- 'It can't be turned off.'
- 'We're trying to get you out.'
- 'You'll never be able to catch us.'
- 'You'll never know who we are. And you never will.'
- 'This isn't the first time I've done this and I've never been caught.'
- 'You're not the only one we're doing this to.'
- 'They're not supposed to be able to identify a voice.'
- 'But what does it all mean?'
Some were responsible for causing anxiety with no discernable cause:
- 'You know who you are.'
- 'You really should be listening to this.'
- 'You really need to be listening to this.'
- 'This is important.'
- 'If you don't... you won't know what might happen'
Some were responsible for creating paranoia or the feeling of being watched:
- 'Eyes are on you'
- 'We are watching'
- 'There's no where you can hide'
- 'There's no where you can be safe'
- 'We can see everything you do'
- 'Nothing is hidden'
- 'You don't hear me. You hear someone you trust.'
- 'Don't you think that white car/truck is following you?'
- 'Don't you think that person laughing is about you?'
- 'Don't you think that white car/truck is following awfully close?'
Some were related to loss of memory:
- 'If you want to forget again you can...'
- 'You have everything backwards. Let him/her forget and start over.'
Some were used to create the appearance of schizophrenia:
- 'You're gonna hear [your last name] and then a voice telling you to go outside.'
- 'Let him/her hear about how smart he/she is.'
- 'If you don't find that believable then let him/her hear about how smart someone else is that you always admired.'
- 'Let him/her hear something about complicating our lives.'
