Frame Shifting

How Frame Shifting (re-framing) is used

Shock of Reversal

The achieve this effect using frame shifting the suggestions must be carefully constructed.  When it's done correctly the conscious part of the mind will arrive at a reassuring/positive resolution to a:

  • Memory being recalled
  • Line of thought being followed
  • Question being posed
  • Statement being heard
During which the unconscious part of the mind does the same but for a completely different one of the 4 above to arrive at a resolution that's dread/apprehensive/negative.

At the point where both parts of the mind reach their resolutions a change of context is triggered.  This is what occurs when the conscious part of the mind is suddenly made aware of what's being followed to resolution by the unconscious.

It's the unexpected change from a reassuring/positive resolution to a dread/apprehensive/negative one that's being used.  The purpose being to effect change in the person or to break them/make them compliant.

An initial suggestion(s) is used to surface the resolution for each part of the person's mind:

  1. One reassuring/positive
  2. One dread/apprehensive/negative

Then suggestions(s) are given to take each part of the mind toward it's resolution.  The frame shift is timed to occur just as the conscious part of the mind gains awareness of it's resolution.

It creates a moment experienced as a sudden shock of reversal.
